Adobo Mexican Grill is a restaurant that offers a variety of dishes. From the delectable birria tacos to the burrito bowl shown in the photo, Adobo surely has put much effort and love into perfecting its flavors. With numerous locations, Adobo serves a wide range of customers. The most accessible location is the one on Sutphin Blvd in Jamaica. Easily accessible to Harrisites with the Q20A, this is a go-to place for friends, family, or even those 2 AM cravings, as it stays open from 11 AM to 3 AM.
Upon entering the establishment, the seating area is your typical chair and table setup, common in many fast-food restaurants. They also play a vast selection of hispanic music, primarily featuring Bad Bunny. The area was very clean, and the ordering process was similar to Chipotle. However, unlike Chipotle, they are incredibly generous with their portion sizes. There was a vast variety of meats, flavors, spices, and best of all, everything was halal. They even offered the famous Chipotle hot-honey chicken, which was a perfect balance of sweet and savory.
Starting at $13, the burrito bowl is the best item on the menu. Its generous portion left me with about half the bowl as a midnight snack for later, and the fresh vegetables, topped with the cheese and the sauces, gave this bowl immense flavor. The lettuce and tomatoes were given in the perfect portion, not too much to dim the flavors of the bowl, but enough to provide the perfect crunch. The sauces had just the right amount of tanginess, and the hot sauce gave it the kick it needed. While the different meats and add-ons can easily inflate the price from $13 to $17-$18, it was still worth it. In addition to the bowl, the Jarritos drink is a must-have. Its fruity flavors cohesively ties the savory and spicy notes from the bowl, offering a refreshing break between bites.
This bowl closely resembled the Chipotle bowls, and I can confidently say, they are extremely similar even in taste and quality. I had a friend try the burrito bowl with me, and they agreed that it was just as good as Chipotle, if not better. This place is near the top of my list, and I would — and definitely will — be getting it again, especially if it’s at 1 AM.
Overall, if you’re looking for a satisfying meal after a long day or a quick pick-me-up lunch, this is the place for you. The combination of flavors and drinks that they offer creates an endless possibility of meals that can fit your liking. Spicy or not, this spot is perfect for the days you want a hearty, filling meal.
