NY Pho House is one of those places that feels cozy the second you walk in. The low, warm lighting gives the space a calm, comforting atmosphere, and the aroma that hits you right away feels perfect for a rainy day. Neutral colors, a few large green plants, and traditional Vietnamese artwork add personality without making the room feel busy. The restaurant is clean and spacious with a casual, relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.
NY Pho House is located at 70-57 Parsons Blvd in Flushing and is easily accessible to Townsend Harris students. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk from school, but if you take the Q64 toward Jewel Ave and get off after two stops, you will see a chain of stores where NY Pho House is located. There is a lot of available seating; every time my friends and I visited, there was room right away. It does get crowded after 3 PM, so we recommend going anytime before then. It’s a great place to hang out or grab a quick meal. The food comes out fast, the pho especially arrives almost immediately since it’s so popular.
Now onto the food.
Beef Brisket Pho: 9/10 $13.99

The first thing we tried was the beef brisket pho. The broth has a light brown color and a clean, comforting look, with thin rice noodles and slices of beef resting on top. The beef looks slightly raw at first, but once it sits in the hot broth for a few minutes, it cooks through quickly. They also give you bean sprouts, basil, and a lemon wedge on the side.
When I saw pho online, it always looked plain. We honestly felt the same when the bowl was in front of me, but the first sip completely surprised me. The broth is not overly salty or overwhelming; instead it has this rich, savory bone broth taste with the tiniest hint of sweetness. They have sriracha and hoisin sauce on the table, and you can ask for chili oil. I usually add chili oil, but I always try the broth plain first to appreciate it.
The portions are huge. They also give smaller bowls so you can share with a friend while still customizing your own serving. One bowl is $13.99, and considering it can be shared with a friend, the price is definitely worth it. The pho is
fresh, comforting, and honestly perfect for a rainy day. We would recommend it to anyone, especially if it is their first time trying pho. Just a little tip: eat the meat first before it overcooks in the broth and turns tough.
Lamb Fried Rice: 8/10 $13.99

Next we tried the lamb fried rice. We really like lamb, so we were excited to try this dish, especially because we had never seen lamb fried rice anywhere else. The rice is stir-fried with vegetables and a generous amount of seasoning, giving it a savory flavor with that slightly smoky wok taste.
The only issue is the meat to rice ratio. There was a lot of lamb, enough that the dish could have used more rice to balance it out. Otherwise, it was flavorful and the portion was huge. Like the Pho, it was $13.99 and easily shareable between two, or even three people if everyone is ordering something else too. Overall, it was very enjoyable and something I’d order again.
Thai Iced Tea: 5/10 $5

The Thai iced tea was the weakest item we tried. It looked great in the cup, but the taste was nothing special. It tasted like any standard Thai tea, sweet and creamy, but it had a strange aftertaste that we did not enjoy, it also made my stomach feel weird after. We would not order it again.
What Makes NY Pho House Special
One thing that makes NY Pho House stand out is that it is halal, unlike most pho spots. The food is also very affordable, especially when you go with friends, because the portions are generous and designed to share. Sharing a huge bowl of pho or a big plate of fried rice makes the meal feel fun and communal. You can definitely go alone if you’re craving something comforting, but the experience is even better with company.
We’ve already gone back multiple times because the food and service is consistently exceptional. If you go, we highly recommend adding chili oil to your pho. It makes the broth taste even better.
NY Pho House is a simple, comforting, and reliable place to grab a flavorful meal, especially on a rainy day.
